Vintage Boujaad rug from the early 1980’s. The colors on this piece are stunning. The background of the rug has a caramel tone that fades in and out, with the addition of pale pink and mauve tones that really highlight the rug in bands throughout. The simple, delicate diamond pattern was done with indigo dyed wool that reflects mostly deep purple tones, and a little blue in certain lights.
Vintage Berber rugs were not made for production, but as functional pieces to be used for many years and passed down through generations. The amazing thing about this is that it means that all the beautiful colors and patterns used have a true meaning behind them that are personal expressions of the woman who made it. These pieces can show signs of wear which I believe adds to their beauty and value, while telling a story about where they were before June + Blue. All rugs are cleaned, and any repairs needed are done in Morocco before shipment.
