Boucherouite rugs ( commonly called ‘rag rugs’) are made from recycled scraps of cotton and/ or wool.
This piece has a triangle pattern of baby blue, medium blue/purple, faded teal, faded red, mustard yellow and navy blue. All photos show true color in natural light. This one is very thin and delicate in a few places. That's what made me fall in love with this piece, however the buyer should be aware of this and also have an appreciation for it. It's medium/long pile and extremely soft.
Berber rugs were not made for production, but as functional pieces to be used for many years and passed down through generations. The amazing thing about this is that it means that all the beautiful colors and patterns used have a true meaning behind them that are personal expressions of the woman who made it. These pieces can show signs of wear which I believe adds to their beauty and value, while telling a story about where they were before June + Blue. All rugs are cleaned, and any repairs needed are done in Morocco before shipment. I only select rugs in excellent vintage condition with minimal repairs.
