Vintage Moroccan Azilal with a cream background and traditional diamond pattern in brown and peachy tan. The weft of the rug was done with a mix of wool and cotton strips. The cotton portion pops out through the front in places, creating a subtle speckled effect. The colors you see coming through the most are dark blue, pale blue, and mint green. See photo of back for detail of the cotton weft.
Vintage Berber rugs were not made for production, but as functional pieces to be used for many years and passed down through generations. The amazing thing about this is that it means that all the beautiful colors and patterns used have a true meaning behind them that are personal expressions of the woman who made it. These pieces can show signs of wear which I believe adds to their beauty and value, while telling a story about where they were before June + Blue. All rugs are cleaned, and any repairs needed are done in Morocco before shipment.
