Boucherouite rugs ( commonly called ‘rag rugs’) are made from recycled scraps of cotton and/ or wool.
This piece has so much cool factor! It's worn, faded, and has a long shaggy pile. The primary colors are tangerine/marigold and baby blue, with orange, teal, purple and blue accents in the design. Photos are true to color and taken in natural light.
Berber rugs were not made for production, but as functional pieces to be used for many years and passed down through generations. The amazing thing about this is that it means that all the beautiful colors and patterns used have a true meaning behind them that are personal expressions of the woman who made it. These pieces can show signs of wear which I believe adds to their beauty and value, while telling a story about where they were before June + Blue. All rugs are cleaned, and any repairs needed are done in Morocco before shipment. I only select rugs in excellent condition with minimal repairs.
